Synopsis: Nikita gets addicted to the Section's new brainwashing machine and turns into the Manchurian Candidate.
Review: On top of being unoriginal, this episode seemed out of place amongst the family/unity theme Nikita has been building on the last several episodes. It starts out with a borrowed spy thriller plot, but unlike most Nikita episodes, it doesn't offer us any new, creative twist. The addiction metaphor of the brainwashing machine was odd and not realistic enough to effectively communicate a message about addiction.
The two best scenes were both scenes where Michael assured Nikita, "We'll get you through this." Does "we" mean the Section as a whole or Michael as an individual. I suppose at one level he did mean the Section, but he was specifically offering his support to Nikita. When you feel like crap, there is often a friend who points out, "You look like crap." Nikita definitely looked like crap, but Michael was thoughtful enough not to mention it. He offered his support by embracing Nikita.
Who thought the camera following the falling man at the beginning of the episode would be a good special effect? Evidently, if the Section wants to make Michael look smart, they just have him put on glasses. Weak plot, weak theme, weak episode. 2 out of 10.
